X Chair HM10 by Hvidt & Mølgaard for &Tradition

After experimenting for years with the concept of a laminated wooden frame inspired by old wooden tennis rackets, Danish design duo Hvidt & Mølgaard released 'X' in 1959, a lounge chair with a distinctive sloping silhouette and understated aesthetic.
The matching X Coffee Table has now also been released.

Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993) were pioneers of Danish mid-century design and the founders of Copenhagen-based firm Hvidt & Mølgaard.

Materials
Oak Veneer sheets formpressed together towards a solid Walnut insert. Milled into shape and lacquered. Natural Rattan weaved around a powder coated stainless steel frame.
